Mary “Sue” Mitchell of Colusa was born Mary Sue Zak in Astoria, Oregon, January 30, 1933 and passed away on November 23, 2018. Sue was married in 1950 to the love of her life, Glenn S. Mitchell. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Glenn S. Mitchell. She is survived by her brother, Frank Zak, her three children Stephen (Cyndi) Mitchell of Williams, CA, Kathryn (Woody) Yerxa of Colusa, CA, and Susanna (Joe) Belli of El Dorado Hills, CA, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her role as a loving wife and mother, Sue worked in banking and real estate before becoming the voice of Mitchell Manufacturing, a Model A Ford overdrive and synchronized Model A transmission manufacturing company that she and her husband Glenn started in 1970. Steve and his wife Cyndi worked side by side with Glenn and Sue and will continue to operate Mitchell Manufacturing in the same quality-minded fashion as has been the Mitchell tradition for the last 48 years.
Sue derived a great deal of joy from her interactions with the Model A community. Model A enthusiasts from all over the world will miss her cheerful voice and helpful attitude. Sue loved dressing “in period” (1920’s and 30’s attire) as well as attending Model A parties or going for a drive in her favorite car, a 1929 Model A. Sue will be greatly missed by family, friends, and Model A enthusiasts.
